NEO Team Update 11-2-17
This is the way we roll in Northeast Oklahoma…
Every person waking up each morning praying, “God, if you can use me anyway today, I’m available!”
God can use us wherever he has planted us, whether in an office in Muskogee, a school in Miami or a battlefield around the world. I read this week a story of an Iraqi Interpreter assigned to the Army’s 82nd Airborne division in 2007. There he met Sgt. Scott Young. Abbas Hameed writes, “ I realized there was something different about him. He had a book in his knee pocket all the time. Every time we had a break, I observed him reading, and I was intrigued. Scott told me it was the Bible, and I started to read it every day for myself. I kept going back to Scott to ask questions about what I was reading.” A few months later, Abbas was saved. He now lives in the USA and has a call to ministry.
May people notice something different about us, and as we love people and invest in their lives, may he give us opportunity to share of the hope that we have in Christ.
Every family a beacon of God’s love.
The Winn family is being salt and light in their neighborhood. David Winn of Tulsa Hills Church was recently highlighted on News Channel 8 and Tulsa World. Every church a mission center.
There are many ways we reach out to our communities in service. Several churches have recently had some type of Fall outreach event. Bartlesville First called their event last week the “Fall Family Fling”. They had over 500 guests plus workers attending. This event was specifically created to connect their church family with unchurched guests and nearly 200 of those guests were either unchurched or did not declare a church!
We join the Drumright Church in welcoming Rev. Mark and Colleen Smith to the NEO District! Pastor Mark was installed as lead pastor Sunday, October 29.
The Thank Offering for the World Evangelism Fund is November 19. Thousands of Nazarenes around the world will offer up thanks to God for the blessings He has given us and for the things that He will do. Together, we will answer the call to make Christlike disciples in the nations.
