NEO Team Update 8-3-17
We want to share our faith, but we don’t want it to feel awkward, uncomfortable, or unnatural…. for them or us! Organic Outreach for Ordinary People will help you shape a personal approach to passing on the good news of Jesus in natural ways. This is not a system or a program. Discover ordinary ways to communicate God’s love and the message of salvation – naturally.
Sunday, October, 8, 5–7 pm, with Pastor Kevin Harney live at Tulsa Central. The event is free but we will take an offering to help with expenses.
All pastors, staff, and board members are asked to join us for this event to equip and inspire us in this priority area of mission.
A declared dedication to evangelism is almost universal among churches. But so few are actually bearing fruit. In fact, most churches have hit a growth plateau or are declining. Organic Outreach for Churches provides direction for congregations to weave gospel-focused passion and practice into the very DNA of church life.
Monday, October 9, 9am–3pm – SNU Pastors’ Forum with Pastor Kevin and Sherry Harney live in Bethany, OK; via Live Streaming at SNU Tulsa; or live streaming in your church or home. Cost is $39.
Pastors and lay leaders, make this a priority; take off work; come learn how to make evangelistic vision and action the domain of every ministry in a church.
We are excited to present the NEO District Prime Time Autumn in Branson Tour October 16-18! Includes motor coach transportation, lodging, four shows, four meals, shopping venues, plus a bonus of great fellowship!! You won’t want to miss it! Reserve your spot today! For details, click here.
NEO Launches New Website
We have launched our newly-designed website. Please check it out – www.neokdistrict.org. A big thank you to our web designer, Jeffery Carden, and to Gloria McKellips, who helped enter much of the information on the site.
You can go under “Resources” to the “Media” page, to find a link to listen to the services at our recent Advance and find the pastors’ video reports to watch. We have redesigned several categories of information to make them “friendlier”. If you have suggestions for making the site more helpful and functional for your ministry, please let us know.
I Want to Celebrate. . .
Jason Isaacs, Tulsa Kaleo. . . God is good! We have had a great first month of the summer! We had an amazing apartment outreach that saw Kaleo build relationships with well over 100 Apache Manor apartment kids and adults. One family has been there every Sunday since we started doing that outreach last month. We have also seen God bring us a new Children’s Pastor from Indiana! Pastor Brian Morton will fill a huge void on our ministry team starting this Sunday. Kaleo was also able to connect with a Pastor from Trinidad and Tobago at General Assembly and he is now praying about potentially moving here to Tulsa to join our ministry! All of these pastors are volunteers. Pray for the workers of the harvest field and God WILL provide! Praise the Lord! God is good and he is moving at Kaleo Church.
David Stevens, Vinita. . . God is so good. Really great District Convention and Assembly. Really great General Convention and Assembly. The news from the global Church is great. I believe that God is also moving in Vinita, USA. He has a plan. He knows where we are. He has heard our many prayers over 10 years. In recent weeks God has helped me reduce the workload with the sale of some properties. This will give me more time for ministry. I am thankful. We have one hope, one Spirit, one Lord, one Faith, and one Body. May God help us be the Body of Christ.
Otoniel Dannemann, Tulsa Fuente de Vida. . . Church still is praying Monday to Saturday at 4:30 am and this month we did seven days in prayer and fasting. Three new families are a part of our church.
Yalmi & Norma Izaguirre, Tulsa Regency Iglesia. . . God is blessing our church with new members.
Dale Fillmore, Okmulgee. . . Completing membership class with one new member to be voted upon.
Ronnie Baker, Tulsa Audacity. . . VBS was a great success with a couple of families from the neighborhood. We had most of our families participating and serving. Had a couple of new families join the church and have started on the Crash Course Plan.
Keith Cole, Chandler. . . First time in 25 years 6 children went to NEO Kidz Kamp and 4 went forward on Sunday evening pouring hearts out to God to work in their families. One young lady’s specific prayer was answered in a big way only 48 hours later. Good for Jesus! Recently we’ve been hearing each other’s “good stories” in Bible study and worship times. This fall, we will join with our sister church, Davenport, in ministry to children and teens. We celebrate the Spirit’s presence in our midst and in our care of others.
Cushing. . . We are so happy to have Henry and Bess back with us. They have been such a blessing to our church family during this time of transition. Thank you, Father, for taking care of Henry these past few weeks.
Carl Brown, Hominy. . . God is blessing our church with desire to reach our community with the love of Christ. Praise and Glory to our Lord we are alive in His Spirit and filled with desire to serve our Lord and serve.
Curtis Martin, Mannford Grace Family Worship Center. . . With the completion of Bible School week, we wish to thank Sharon and Regency Park for sharing last year’s Bible School materials with us. It was a complete success. Attendance was great with many new families attending both the weeknights and Saturday celebration. Also, thank you to the District Properties Team and D.S. for coming to Mannford to assess our sanctuary and give suggestions to our MAT Team as we prepare to remodel. These are exciting times for our people!
David Stevens, Vinita. . . Assemblies and Conventions were inspiring as usual. God helped us. The sense of love and unity in Vinita Church is one of the things that keeps us looking forward to the services. We have plans for a “Praying for our City” campaign, and we are working on the plans for Caravan kick-off and several Fall activities. We will be studying the status of our Church in board meeting to lay the groundwork for setting goals.
Otoniel Dannemann, Tulsa Fuente de Vida. . . We celebrate 21 baptisms and this is joining with 7 more that we did in June.
Georgina Lopez, Tulsa Cielos Abiertos. . . We celebrate two marriages in the process to restoration of the families in our congregation.
Scott Moore, Broken Arrow First. . . Our church gave away 158 pairs of shoes to our VBS Students.
Brian Loderhose, Owasso Silver Creek. . . A small but successful VBS, with six children accepting Christ.
Casey Hollingsworth, Miami New Life. . . We took our VBS to a low-income housing area in Miami. Made many connections with the families in this area. One family (with absolutely no church background/relationship with Jesus) has attended our church as a result and another one is planning on it. We feel that Jesus is leading us to maintain our connection with this community and will do so out of love and obedience to Jesus! Looking forward to seeing how Jesus is going to work through us as we get outside the walls of the church in order to be the Church!
Ronnie Baker, Tulsa Audacity. . . We did 3 baptisms — all adults. We are excited for these families. We had 91 people at our pool party and cookout – 14 of them were guests. Fifth Sunday was a huge success — we even received local news coverage.
Jason Isaacs, Tulsa Kaleo. . . God is good! We had a rough month with a break in right after 4th of July but God moved in the service that Sunday in a powerful way to remind us we are dependent on him and not the things of this world we think we need! We had some physical healings, some confessions of faith, and a powerful time of worship (even though we were using “song sheets” lol). We are in the midst of our series titled “The Harvest Is Coming” and the Lord of the Harvest is already bringing in new people! We have had 5 new families begin attending regularly this month alone! God is good and He is moving at Kaleo Church.
