NEO Team Update 8/28/17
Dear NEO family,
It is hard to fathom the devastation that is taking place in South Texas. We all have family or friends in the area and we are praying and communicating with them as possible. My son, David, and his wife, Elaine, live three miles west of downtown Houston. David was out of town when the storm hit and has not been able to get back. Elaine and their dog, Lincoln, are safe, but like everyone in the area, are wondering what the next few days will hold.
As you would expect, several Nazarene churches have storm or flooding damage and many of our brothers and sisters have flooded homes. NEO Nazarenes are asking ourselves what we can do now to help and wondering what will be needed a week, a month and even a year from now. I know God’s people will reach out and help in every way we can.
Nazarene Disaster Response is sending a project coordinator into San Antonio to assess the needs. Our South Texas District Superintendent, Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, says it is too early to come in and do anything in the Houston area. We will have to wait until water recedes to assess and respond. Let’s keep in touch as we discover needs and are planning relief efforts. We are better together!
Organic Outreach for ORDINARY PEOPLE
We want to share our faith, but we don’t want it to feel awkward, uncomfortable, or unnatural…. for them or us! Organic Outreach for Ordinary People will help you shape a personal approach to passing on the good news of Jesus in natural ways. This is not a system or a program. Discover ordinary ways to communicate God’s love and the message of salvation – naturally.
Sunday, October, 8, 5–7 pm, with Pastor Kevin Harney live at Tulsa Central. The event is free but we will take an offering to help with expenses.
All pastors, staff, and board members are asked to join us for this event to equip and inspire us in this priority area of mission.
Organic Outreach for CHURCHES
A declared dedication to evangelism is almost universal among churches. But so few are actually bearing fruit. In fact, most churches have hit a growth plateau or are declining. Organic Outreach for Churches provides direction for congregations to weave gospel-focused passion and practice into the very DNA of church life.
Monday, October 9, 9am–3pm – SNU Pastors’ Forum with Pastor Kevin and Sherry Harney live in Bethany, OK; via Live Streaming at SNU Tulsa; or live streaming in your church or home. Cost is $39.
