NEO Team Update 10-7-19
2019 NEO Ministry Team Retreat
We were blessed with 123 of our ministry team participating in a great retreat at Branson Chateau on the Lake September 20-22. Drs. Chuck and Carla Sunberg brought great messages, Brady and Karalie Thelander led in meaningful worship, and pastors and spouses bonded together through meetings, meals, and fun times. Our district is blessed with terrific pastors and spouses!
Al Bryant, a longtime leader at Tulsa Living Hope, died on Sunday morning, October 6. We offer our deep sympathy to his wife, Ira, and daughter, Terasita.
Congratulations to Tony and Jessica Siebels who were married on Saturday, October 5. Tony is our pastor in Pawhuska.
Congratulations to Pastor Geoff Gunter and the Regency Park Church on a very positive church/pastor review on September 11.
Chandler Pastor Keith Cole had a successful heart ablation on October 3. Pray that his heart stays in regular sinus rhythm.
Dr. Rob McCorkle will speak at two NEO churches this month: Chelsea Open Doors (Oct. 22-23) and Pryor Redemption House of Prayer (Oct 25-27). All are welcome.
Coweta The Way Church looks forward to building a church on their new property.
NEO Missions Update
from Cynthia Hollingsworth
It was amazing how much was accomplished on our mission trip to the Dominican Republic last week with such a small group and amount of time! God truly multiplied the work of our hands and the resources for the project. Electrical wire was installed in most of the building and rooms began to take shape after concrete floors were poured. The building took on the look of a school once the colorful windows were welded in place as well. The people are so loving and kind, and grateful for the partnership of our district to this Child Development Center! We were also able to help at a medical clinic and prayed for each person who came for treatment. Our goal for next summer is at least 20 participants! Deposits will be due in January. Be praying and making preparations now!
Lost and Found Church of the Nazarene in Brownsville, TX has partnered with a Nazarene church in Matamoros, Mexico to provide for the needs of those seeking asylum and refuge. We are desiring to assist them with these overwhelming needs. Our district goal is 500 care kits and $3,000 to help with weekly meals that are served, a small projector to help with worship services at the camp, and van repairs. They are also in need of yoga mats for people to have a softer surface to sleep. Love offering money can be mailed to NMI treasurer, Dean Ashbrook, and marked border outreach. We will be delivering the items and money on November 15th. Tulsa Hills has graciously agreed to be a drop off place for items until November 11th. If anyone is interested in making the drive down please email Cynthia Hollingsworth or call 918-919-1177.
