NEO Team Update 12-10-20

Advent 2020

I have thoroughly enjoyed my Advent devotions the past two weeks focused on God’s gifts of HOPE and PEACE. I know I need these gifts every year, but it seems they are especially needed as we close out 2020. In Jesus, born in Bethlehem, God has brought us beauty for ashes, hope for despair, and peace unlike anything the world can offer.

Now, He invites me and He invites you to step into the darkness of our world and be messengers of HOPE and PEACE. We bring good tidings of great joy as we point people to Jesus and as we live the values of His kingdom, demonstrating a LIVING HOPE and MAKING PEACE. O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and transform us and use us as the light of the world.

Merry Christmas!

Thank you, Bud and Linda Lauhon!

On November 22, Dr. McKellips was honored to present Bud Lauhon with Scott Stearman’s Towel and Basin Sculpture as a token of the District’s appreciation for 46 years of faithful service as District Treasurer! Think of how many District Superintendents Bud had to train! We cannot adequately express our appreciation to Bud and Linda for their lives of service. Bud was also honored that day by Rev. Geoffrey Gunter for almost 30 years of service as Treasurer for Regency Park Church of the Nazarene.

Dr. David and Cheryl Roland, Welcome to Northeast Oklahoma

Dr. David Roland retired in August after serving for 18 years as District Superintendent in Northeastern Indiana. The picture to the left was taken from David and Cheryl’s new home in Owasso. Notice that David had a coffee cup ready to answer Dr. McKellips when he came with an “opportunity”!

District Work Project at Skiatook Parsonage

Pastor Jesse and JoAnn Madaffari are transitioning into retirement and moving out of the Skiatook Parsonage. The church is in need of some help on the parsonage. NEO Properties Chairman, Jerry Wilburg, is coordinating the work with assistance from NEO Work and Witness Coordinator, Cynthia Hollingsworth.

We can use your help! A crew from Regency Park is beginning a major bathroom overhaul today. A crew from Tulsa Hills will be helping remove flooring and a couple of small (non-load bearing) walls this Saturday (contact Pastor Jim at 918-851-1178 if you can help). Pastor Bret Metcalfe (Claremore) and a crew from Cleveland will begin painting soon. We also have some carpentry tasks, a kitchen countertop to install, and lots of workers needed to install flooring.

If you would be willing to give a few hours to join one of these crews, please contact the District office (918-496-0022 or and let us know the best times in a typical week for you to work. Or call Jerry Wilburg at 918-357-2071.
