NEO Team Update 2-26-18

Dear NEO family,

What a joy it is to be a part of the team of Nazarenes in Northeast Oklahoma!! Our vision:

– Every person waking up each morning praying, “God, anyway you can use me today, I’m available!”

– Every family a beacon of God’s love.

– Every church a mission center.

Last Sunday, Gloria and I worshiped with Pastor Otoniel Dannemann and Fuente de Vida. This vibrant congregation has helped start many of our eight Hispanic congregations and yet they continue to fill their facility week after week. They have a passion for evangelism and baptized 53 people this last year! They also have a clear discipleship strategy which features use of The Masters’ Plan. Their worship is vibrant and compelling. Last week we had a very positive church/pastor review.

On Sunday afternoon, we had the privilege of joining with the Grace Family Worship Center in Mannford to celebrate God working in ways beyond our wildest dreams in the renewing of this church and remodeling of their facilities! It was also a celebration of the value of a team! A congregation longing to make an impact in their community was willing to offer their gifts and resources to make it happen. Pastor Curtis and Lesta Martin provided persistent and resourceful leadership! The District Properties Committee led by Jerry Wilburg provided great counsel and assistance. Zone Pastors came and painted the facilities. And the District family helped with some of the needed finances! Thanks be to God for birthing the dream and bringing everything together to make it possible!

On Feb. 17th, 311 of us gathered at Abba Center, our Compassionate Ministry Center, to rejoice in all God has done through 15 years of Celebrate Recovery, led by Buddy and Alicia Davis. Just in the last year, CR has been used by God to lead 44 individuals into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ; 73 others recommitted their lives to Christ! Thank God for the way Abba Center is taking seriously scattering the seed of the gospel.

Some of the NEO team at the recent SPARK training for children’s workers. We thank God for training provided to help our workers increase their impact…and for workers who are stretching to be all they can be for God’s glory.

What a blessed time we had at our IGNITE Rally on Feb. 18. All we do as a district is designed to ignite a passion for Christ, His Word and His Mission. Thanks to Core Church and Pastor Brad Farnsworth for being gracious hosts, to Pastor Daniel Surratt and the worship band and to Dr. Keith Newman, SNU President, for the challenging message.
