NEO Team Update 4-23-18

NEO Team Update 4-23-18

Dear NEO Family,

This week is the last week of the 2017-18 church year. I am sure all of us look back on the past year with both thanksgiving and regrets. I am reminded often of the challenge of Paul to the church of Philippi and Northeast Oklahoma: Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

When we gather in a few weeks for our annual Advance, we will spend time rejoicing in the way God has helped us this past year and encouraging one another to press on toward the goal!

Sometimes people ask why they should attend our annual assembly and conventions. Our annual Advance is vital to the church because it helps us:

– Clarify our common mission

– Reconnect with one another

– Stimulate best practices

– Renew our spirits

– Rededicate ourselves to Christ, His Word and His Mission

Once again, we have powerful worship services with Dr. Roger Hahn, renowned Biblical scholar and preacher, and Dr. Carla Sunberg, our jurisdictional General Superintendent and former nurse, missionary, pastor, District Superintendent and Seminary President, preaching.  A full program, SUMMER DAZE, will be provided for kids birth through age 12, including some “day camps” for 6 to 12 year-olds. Workshops will be provided for workers with children, youth, adults, missions and church treasurers.

Meals will be available for purchase on-site on Saturday and Monday.  Check out the schedule and  plan to join us for this vital gathering.

Rev. Michael and Deborah Staton Installed at Wagoner Church

Pastor Michael Staton received a unanimous call by Wagoner Cornerstone Community and was installed last Sunday, April 22. We are delighted to have  Michael and Deborah a part of the NEO team!

Bristow Update

We just received word that Broken Arrow First raised $3585 yesterday for the Bristow project. And one of our New Start Churches, Audacity, has raised over $1000 and is taking a work crew to paint, do landscaping and other work on the building later this week. What a team we have in NEO! We are better together!

Pastor Anthony Beville writes: The Bristow Church of the Nazarene has been blessed by God’s providence with our upcoming move. We are celebrating His miracles and would love to invite you to celebrate with us. We are having a farewell service for our old building on 8th & Maple in Bristow, Sunday, April 29th, at 6pm. We are have a fresh start grand opening service at the new building (4th & Chestnut) on June 10th at 6pm. All are invited.
