NEO Team Update 6-15-17

NEO Team Update 6-15-17
Dear NEO Family,

Do you ever wonder if church attendance matters? We can worship God anywhere, after all. Why don’t we just go to the park and listen to a podcast to be fed spiritually? I hope you will read the words of my friend, Pastor Shane Ash, below:

“Church attendance matters.  And not for the growth of the organization itself, but more importantly, for the formation of the people. Why? Church is participation. It is our submission to the body of Christ. It is part of our salvation…transforming us from the idolatry of self into worshipers of God. Church is formation. It is an identity. It is practice. It is a dress rehearsal of how to be Christian. As we partake in sacrament, we are accepting the grace of God. As we sing praise, we are aligning our minds and bodies in worship. As we listen to the Scripture being read aloud, we are practicing hearing God speak. As we anoint and pray, we are practicing a faith beyond our own reason. As we fellowship, we are practicing hospitality. Church is participation. And being a Christian requires practice. It is a discipline not an experience. It requires apprenticeship in order to be lived. To be a Christian requires the body of Christ…the Church.”

NEO LAUNCHES NEW WEBSITE

We have just launched our newly designed website. Please check it out – www.neokdistrict.org.  A big thank you to our web designer, Jeffery Carden, for the many hours of work; and to Gloria McKellips for providing assistance.

You can go under “Resources” to the “Media” page, to find a link to listen to the services at our recent Advance and find the pastors’ video reports to watch. We have redesigned several categories of information to make them “friendlier”. If you have suggestions for making the site more helpful and functional for your ministry, please let us know.

Congratulations!

Troy Vernier graduated from Epic Charter School/Sapulpa and is hoping to head to Southern Nazarene as a mass communications major.
