NEO Team Update 6-7-21

NEO Team Update 6-7-21

I have received a few awards over the years, but it is hard to compare any with the joy of receiving the Ryan Amey face cutout at Youth Camp last week! It is something I will not easily forget (how could you forget a face like Ryan’s?!).

On a serious note, NEO Youth Camp 2021 was fantastic with around 220 campers! Special thanks to Nick Williams and all of the staff for their outstanding leadership. My favorite moments were watching sponsors hug, cry and pray with students; I also loved watching students worship with such enthusiasm and joy. Sponsors who take a week of vacation to invest in students are my heroes! I hope you honor them in your local church and hear the stories of how God worked in the lives of all campers!

July 23-26

It’s time to register for NEO Kids Camp 2021! Click HERE for details and registration.

Speaking of Kid’s camp, today I attended the funeral for Linda Holland. Linda was a counselor at camp for years before directing our Kid’s Camp from 2001 to 2018! She was passionate about her Lord, her church, and kids, and loved to help kids fall in love with her Savior. Between camp, teaching school, NMI kid’s day, and her local church (Tulsa Southwest), think of the thousands of kids Linda impacted for Christ. May we follow the example of this faithful servant of Christ.

Pastoral Transition

Our brother, Mark Smith, is retiring and stepping down from pastoral leadership at Drumright. Pastor Mark and Colleen have done outstanding work at Drumright. Pray for the Smiths and the church in this time of transition.

Pastor Billy and Johnna Harding have accepted a call to serve Meeker Country Faith Church. Their first Sunday will be June 20.

The Board of General Superintendents invite you to join them in the second denomination-wide online service, A Celebration of Grace. The 1-hour service will be broadcast for 24 hours on June 27th, the same weekend that our global family would have gathered for the 30th General Assembly, which has been postponed until June 2023. These global gatherings are an important part of our identity as a denomination, and we are thankful for technology that makes it possible for us to connect. The service can be accessed HERE.

The service will focus on our global discipleship initiative, Nazarene Discipleship: A Journey of Grace. It will include a Journey of Grace promotional video, brief messages from each general superintendent, and three multilingual worship songs with musicians from all six regions.
