NEO Team Update 9-16-19

From the District Superintendent

We are excited about the NEO Ministry Team Retreat this weekend at Chateau on the Lake in Branson, MO. Drs. Chuck and Carla Sunberg will be our special speakers and Rev. Brady Thelander will lead our worship. Pray for this to be a time of refreshing and renewal for the outstanding NEO pastors and spouses.

I have set aside a day on each Mission Area to meet with lead pastors to discuss ministry and each church’s Annual Goals and Expectations. I value these opportunities for sharing and welcome your prayers that they would truly be times of mutual encouragement. On some of the Mission Areas, the Mission Area Coordinators will also join us for the meeting. Here are the dates:

October 3 –  Northeast

October 8 –  Tulsa

October 15 – Southeast

October 22 – Southwest

October 28 – Northwest

NEO August Reports

I Want to Celebrate…

Brady Thelander, Sapulpa. . . We celebrate a successful week of VBS with 43 kids in attendance and over 50 volunteers. We had the majority of the kids and their families join us for worship the Sunday after VBS. It was a blessing to partner with Sand Springs Nazarene to bring the gospel in relevant ways to the young families in our community.

David Stevens, Vinita. . . Two young adults in membership class. They are also practicing to join the worship team. We are using new technology in our worship music that really helps. It is great for a small church because it adds in instruments and voices we don’t have.

Geoff Gunter, Tulsa Regency Park. . . Our Faith Promise goal this year was $75,000. To date we have $83,040 committed. Praise God!

Russell Hosey, Bartlesville First. . . August was a good month for Bartlesville First. We had four new commitments to Christ. Twenty-five people from our church joined 20+ other churches in Bartlesville for the Convoy of Hope Event. We served approximately 2,780 people.  It was truly a good day in the life of our community.

Bret Metcalfe, Claremore. . . We had the privilege to feed and pray with the Claremore Zebra marching band. Those were some hungry young people. We also were able to assist w a community family whose loved one had passed away, but they had no church to call home. God is at work in Claremore.

Fabian Correa, Owasso Silver Creek Iglesia. . . We had a marvelous church gathering at the creek for the baptism of a young lady in our church on August 17th. She brought many family members to witness the special day and we enjoyed a great cookout together. There were around 30 people there.

Jim Thornton, Tulsa Hills. . . Over the past month one person received Jesus as Savior and another was entirely sanctified. For this we give God the highest praise. We are excited to welcome Angie Brant to the pastoral team at THC. Angie is our new children’s pastor and will begin September 8th. Kathy Cott continues to develop a ministry to special needs children and families. Last month we also granted another local minister’s license to Kasey O’Donnell. We are so thankful for the continued ways God is raising up new leadership in a variety of ways. The Open Box Special elective in now in its third cycle. What a joy to see people discover and step into their God-called purpose.

Yalmi & Norma Izaguirre, Tulsa Roca de Salvacion. . . We are in our new building and God is blessing us.

Casey Hollingsworth, Miami New Life. . . We hosted a breakfast for our high school teachers/administrators as they started the new school year. Also, participated in a prayer walk with other area churches. We joined together and walked the halls of the high school and prayed for the students and teachers.

Fabian Correa, Tulsa Cielos Abiertos. . . We had a new family with three children start attending after first joining a Women’s Meeting. We are excited to have new people.

Austin Troyer, Tahlequah. . . God has been faithful and has answered many prayers for hurting families in recent days while being a constant help in trouble for others. God has continued to bless us through the Family and Friends Sundays and outreach to the college. Thank you for your continued prayers for our church.

Drew Dinnel, Muskogee First. . . This month we had a great response to the VBS Sunday in the community and we continue to see new families and people each week as we head toward kickoff or launch Sunday. We have been eagerly preparing for the fall and look forward to what God is going to do next.

Otoniel Dannemann, Tulsa Fuente de Vida. . . In this month we did six baptisms and we are preparing three more. Praise God!

Jordan Serracino, Davenport. . . We received two new members in August. These are folks that have been on the fence for several years, and they finally made up their minds to join the Church of the Nazarene.

Ronnie Baker, Tulsa Audacity. . . For the third month in a row we have had 2 people give their hearts to Jesus. We will baptize 3 more people in September. Words cannot describe our gratitude for the Audacity.Church Blitz! We had over 50 people from 4 different churches show up to help with the building project. We had a great turnout for Tulsa University’s Activities Fair. We connected with over 150 TU Students. Additionally, we met ORU students in the pastoral and ministry leader major. We discussed the vision and mission of Audacity with over 40 students.  We created a large blessing bag for the Mayo teachers’ lounge. We dropped off favorite snacks with notes of encouragement.
