NEO Team Update 9-28-20
Dear NEO family,
“I have to confess, it has been hard for me to pray for revival in America with faith. It seems like we are too broken and too apathetic about the things of God.” These were my words to the men gathered for the Promise Keepers Virtual Event a few weeks ago. It is not that I don’t long for revival, but I honestly have not been confident of a third great awakening sweeping across our land.
But revival sure is needed! Your District Advisory Council affirmed that the number one priority for the NEO District for this year is corporate and individual repentance, which is always a prelude to revival. Little did we know how that emphasis would be sweeping across our world in the upcoming months. “The Return”, a call for 120 cities and 120 thousand believers to be a part of a Global Upper Room and pray, fast and wait on the Lord for 10 days concludes today, Sept. 28. I benefited from the daily devotionals; I was moved as I watched hours of a simulcast from Washington, D.C. over the weekend; and I loved hearing three outstanding NEO pastors speak on return, repent and revive at the service sponsored by Abba Ministries last Saturday night.
Has it changed my thoughts about a great awakening? Not completely. But I did feel God saying, “Do you think I can bring revival to your heart? To your family? To your church? Let’s start there. Don’t forget I am the God who works immeasurably more than you can ask or imagine.” As I watched the simulcast, I was reminded of times in America’s history where revival seemed pretty hopeless and America’s Presidents – Madison during the War of 1812 and Lincoln during the Civil War – called for a day for public humiliation and prayer (read Lincoln’s Proclamation HERE. It is pretty amazing!). God worked in some amazing ways as his people prayed.
So, let’s continue to persevere in prayer for God to revive our land! And let’s be faithful being salt and light in a broken and divided world.
We welcome Pastor Ron and Jeanette Biddle, who begin their ministry at Bristow Fellowship Church the week of Nov. 1.
We are thankful for gifted interim pastors/preachers:
Henry Reed continues to serve at Bristow until the Biddles arrive.
Kevin Williams has been serving at Mannford for a month.
Keith Cole is serving at Davenport while he continues at Chandler.
Mark Hamilton will serve at Tulsa Regency Park with the retirement of Geoff Gunter.
RSVP for the lunch to Regency (918-663-9717) by October 19. Cards may be sent to Regency Park Church of the Nazarene, 8707 E 51st St. Tulsa, OK 74145
SNU: Who Matters to You, Matters to Us!
As the team at Southern Nazarene University works to build SNU’s incoming class for Fall 2021 and beyond, it’s important that we don’t miss telling the SNU story to those closest to us. You know SNU is a transformational place. Will you help us spread the word to those in your circle of influence? SNU may be a perfect fit for people in your life!
Do you have a son or daughter, niece or nephew, grandchild, or even a neighbor or friend who’s in high school? Maybe you know someone who’s interested in finishing their degree later in life or looking to complete a graduate or doctorate degree.
SNU President Keith Newman writes, “If you’ll let us know who they are, we’ll do the rest. You have my word — we will contact and follow up on students who are important to you. After all, who matters to you, matters to us.” Click HERE to pass along their info.
Bring Your Bible to School Day – October 1

It takes courage to stand up for your faith in front of your peers, but when you do, you create a boldness inside that never goes away. Clink HERE for more information.
