As you may have heard, our District Superintendent Dr. Dave McKellips, is planning to retire at our next District Assembly after over 20 years of serving our district. Over the next months, we want to make a special effort to express our appreciation and love for him and Gloria.

The District Advisory Council (DAC) has been tasked to present two candidates to the District Assembly next June 5 and 6 to elect a new District Superintendent. This council is composed of the District Advisory Board (DAB), the Treasurer, the District Secretary, and the NMI, NYI, and NDI presidents. The General Superintendent in Jurisdiction, Dr. David Busic , and the Regional Director, Dr. Stan Reeder, provide leadership and advice to the council.
Throughout the process of identifying these candidates, the DAC will keep you updated of our progress and how you can participate.

The process begins with every church receiving a letter from General Superintendent Dr. David Busic to officially begin this journey. Next, your involvement is important as we put together a profile of our district and a description of the kind of woman or man we are looking for in a future DS. After the creation of the profiles, the next step is to accept nominations, which can be any ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene. A nomination process is open to everyone – even people from other districts whom God may lead to suggest a qualified candidate. After that, the DAC works through the list of nominees and in collaboration with the Board of General Superintendents, selects 2-3 nominees whom we invite for an interview. Those interviews are scheduled for April 20-21. By the end of April, we expect to have chosen the two candidates that will be presented to the District Assembly in June. The District Assembly will not be limited to those two candidates. A two-thirds majority will be necessary for election.

The most important contribution each of us can make during this process is to pray. We want to ask God that the person He has prepared be elected in June. Expect regular prayer updates in the next months here, via e-mail, and on the District Facebook page.
In addition, pastors and church offices will receive connection information via e-mail for a regular Zoom prayer meeting on the third Tuesday of each month.

We read in James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Let’s pray together for God’s direction for our district!
You can find information about the District Superintendent search on our district web site here at neokdistrict.org/ds-search . Information via e-mail will come from the e-mail address dssearch@neokdistrict.com . We will also post on the District Facebook page.
Thank you for your participation and prayer. We’re looking forward to hearing from you, and we will stay in touch throughout this process!
