NEO Team Update

Dear NEO family,

It is April 1. Those of us who follow our crucified and risen Savior are no fools! The Apostle Paul says it this way to the church at Corinth:

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”[a]  I Corinthians 1:26 – 31 (NIV)

Thank you for your years of service, Pastor Frisbie.

As a result of a heart attack and on-going related health issues, Dr. David Frisbie has been advised by doctors, family and friends to step aside from the incessant stress inducing demands of pastoral ministry. David is retiring and he and Lisa’s last Sunday at Miami New Life Church will be April 14.

Do you know of students planning to attend Southern Nazarene University in the Fall, 2024 Semester?

We want to ensure that each student receives Pastor’s Scholarship Certificates from NEO Churches. Every year that a church pays 100% of their educational budget they earn a $200 certificate. These certificates can be used to help any student with the cost of their tuition and are good for 10 years. Each student can use five certificates per year. Certificates to be used in the Fall need to be submitted by May 15, so let us know students we can bless.

Do you have someone in your church who has a passion for helping people build Christian marriages?

If so, invite them to join the Tulsa Marriage Initiative in our second “Breakfast of Marriage Champions” on April 23, 7:30 – 9:00am at Hilton Garden Inn in BA. We have some excellent speakers lined up who will talk about what they are doing for marriages in their congregations. It will be a great time of networking and learning…and, breakfast is free, but you need to RSVP Bruce Wilbanks bruce@mfitulsa.org.

Who would you like to see nominated to serve on the District Advisory Board, District Discipleship Council or as a Trustee to SNU?

The Nominating Committee meets on April 13, so send your recommendations to the district office.
